Valentines Day is on 14th February 2015. Valentines day is hailed as one of the most romantic days of the year. It is also known as the Feast of Saint Valentine and celebrated throughout the world. About 1 billion Valentine's Day cards are exchanged each year. That's the largest seasonal card sending occasion of the year, next to Christmas. Women purchase 85% of all valentines. About 3% of pet owners will give Valentine's Day gifts to their pets. Worldwide, over 50 million roses are given for Valentine's Day each year. In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.

Christmas Balloons!

CHRISTMAS! Christmas is a time of giving and loving! Presents are handed out, families get together and delicious food is eaten. The history of present giving comes from the Bible when the 3 Wise Men gave baby Jesus a gift each at his birth: Frankincense, Gold and Myrrh. Since then, giving gifts has become a Christmas tradition.  Another Christmas tradition is the Christmas tree that stands in your living room that all your presents go under. The use of the 'Ever-Green Tree' as the world-wide known Christmas Tree comes from a long time ago and Christians thought of it as a sign of ever lasting life with god. All these things are important to awknowlodge at Christmas time, but Christmas is not Christmas without festivity and our beautiful Christmas balloon bouquets will help create the festive feeling in your home.  The giant Santa or Christmas tree balloons at the top of our main bouquets are big, bright, colourful and filled with Christmas cheer! Gifts In The Hills delivers Sydney wide so order your beautiful bunch of balloons for Christmas now! Fun Balloon Facts

FIVE FUN BALLOON FACTS! 1. The concept and technology for the "metalization" of plastic sheeting that has given us foil balloons comes directly out of the NASA Space Mission.                                                  2.  Printed latex balloons are inflated while the printing takes place, screen printed, then deflated, drummed in rotating industrial dyers to shrink them back to "like new," and finally packaged. 3. The natural rubber latex used to make latex balloons comes from the sap of the rubber tree, Heveabrasiliensis. Latex balloons are Earth-friendly! Rubber trees grow in rain forests. Latex harvesting discourages deforestation because latex-producing trees are left intact. A tree can produce latex for up to 40 years!                                                 4.  Balloons were first invented in France in the late 18th century. Two papermakers, Jacques and Joseph Montgolfier, discovered that when paperbags are filled with hot air, the bags rise. Quick to realize the potential of this, they began experimenting with balloons of various materials such as paper, cloth, and silk. But, the first rubber balloons were made by Professor Michael Faraday in 1824 for use in his experiments with hydrogen at the Royal Institute in London.                                                       5.  In 2010, Jonathan Trappe crossed the channel in a wicker basket carried by 55 helium balloons.

What is the difference?

We are often asked what the difference is between all our balloons.  Here is a quick run down of the main balloon types that are used in our bouquets.   11" Latex Balloons treated with Hi-Float for maximum floating times. Latex balloons are like normal party balloons. Without Ho-Float they would only float with helium for 12 - 24 hours. This is fine for a party but not as a gift! When treated with Hi-Float our latex balloons will float approx 5 days. Heat, Extreme cold or direct sunlight will reduce the floating times however. 18" (45cm) Microfoil Balloons These foil balloons come as stars, hearts, diamonds and rounds. When filled with helium these should float for approx 7-10 days. Heat, Extreme cold or direct sunlight will reduce the floating times however. Bubble and Double Bubble Balloons These unique balloons range in size from 20 inches to 24 inches and can float for up to 2 weeks!  They inflate round and feature see through plastic material with smooth, beach ball-like seams that create an amazing 3D effect. Super Shape Balloons These large shape balloons are made of the same Microfoil as our smaller microfoil balloons. Because they are larger and contain more helium, they will continue to float for up to 2 weeks. But once again heat, extreme cold or direct sunlight will reduce the floating times.
